BIO: Obviously Odium means a couple of things... most people mistake it as a synonym for hate but this is not always the case. It can mean enduring hate for something shitty you caused and there are two directions this can take you... 1) It can pull you down into a subhuman form that is not naturally you. you swirl, dwindle and die. 2) It can lift you up to a perch you've never sat on before. Reliving past endeavors can make a person learn and evolve into a better person spiritually and mentally. Of course life is a constant flow of these experiences and one must decide between the two. Odium is enduring, enduring is existing... we just fuck up a lot. People ask to describe the sound... the style or "genre" of Odium. We have no clue as it seems our individual influences are all over the radar. Take Frank Zappa and put him the same room with Mike Patton, Neal Pert and Les Claypool and you might have Odium... or a fist fight. Passionate, educated and deliberate every step of the way. The chemistry comes from blood and longevity. We are veteran musicians with tours and other dubious crap under our belts. We have all have played for huge crowds, we have recorded many albums of original music, and have played along side some of the best in the business. What does this mean? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. We won't do interviews. We turns down radio appearances. We are as far underground as you can get but nearly every single show is sold out. For those who think the middle of no where is somewhere near the four corners, you are mistaken. It is indeed Des Moines, Iowa and we have been pulling water from the proverbial rock for years by letting our music do the talking. We perform music. It's what we do. The best is
yet to come... Odium is:

ERIC MESENBRINK - GUITAR Eric is a classically trained guitarist from NW Iowa. Using years of training, Eric creates the impossible with each note he plays. At times, you have to look just to make sure he is the lone guitar. He has been a part of many national and regional acts including Boo-Jum (from MN) and Dementia (DSM) |
JAY CORIGLIANO - DRUMS Jay was seemingly born with sticks in his hands. He uses as many drums as he can get his hands on in order to create a style that defies any conventional category or school of learning. Jay has played for regional and national touring acts Redwing and Heroic Dose, both of Des Moines. |
JOHN MESENBRINK - BASS John combines innumerable techniques and the ability to read the drummer's mind, laying down a rock-solid foundation that makes up Odium's landscape. Bass players strive their entire lives to become a highly evolved bassist, John has been this since the beginning. Former member of Dementia. |
JIM CORIGLIANO - VOCALS Jim is the wild card "instrument" for Odium. With a quest for knowledge and a bit of personal paranoia, he weaves his way through the music rounding out a sound that is exclusively Odium's. Other bands: Smilin' Jack, Redwing, and Heroic Dose. |
