January 1, 2008

No news is good news, huh? To us it is. As we have all but disappeared for 2007 many speculated about our status and whereabouts. As a good faith gesture for 2008, here is the year in review.

So what exactly happened you ask? When you've been together as long as we have sometimes a sabbatical helps put goals, music and life into perspective. After our last live performance of 2006 (November, I believe), Jim began having throat problems and eventually lost it all together. It was then decided that a break was in order for healing and writing. Both have come full circle and here we are yet again ready to tackle 2008.

The stage show has been perfected and a totally new sound has emerged to compliment an all ready unique vibe. From the show side, you can expect to see Odium in Des Moines 3 or 4 times during 2008 with at least one guaranteed cancellation. Each of the shows will be a production nightmare from our side but for the audience, prepare to experience something never seen in Iowa (I feel like I’m selling cars). We have long felt that if you are going to pay your hard earned dollars to see a show, you're not particularly interested in watching 4 bands, full of egomaniacs, strutting their shit on stage. You paid to see a show and we feel obligated to do so. Also, be prepared to see many additional faces to fold as we have expanded our music, so must we supplement our live line up to accommodate the larger sound and production.

Where else can you expect to see Odium in 2008? Well, this is indeed a tricky question. After years of being fucked over by bands in Minnesota, Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri, and so on that were only looking for a gig in Des Moines without feeling the obligation of a good business relationship and paying us back in kind, we will no longer be taking a charitable approach to our bookings. Expect to see us Des Moines, Chicago and Arizona. These places have welcomed us back time and time again and we trust them to take care of us the way we have always prided ourselves on taking care of the bands we have brought to Iowa. If you want us to come to your neck of the woods, shoot us an email and we’ll make it happen.

Peace, Love and something else.
